Started the evening with crackers and dip and a drink that I mixed about a year ago and never finished. Pretty potent, but tasted great. For dessert we had grilled pineapple chunks with vanilla ice cream. If it sounds good, it was. But the stories we told after the meal was complete were priceless. Scott and Judy talked about their parents, friends and the cars they used to own, while Carol and I ........ well you have read quite a few of the tales that we talked about as darkness fell and the lights on our lighted, fake palm tree came on. When the lights on the tree first burst into the dark evening, Scott declared, "Boy, that's so Lancaster!" Since there was a slight breeze last night and the bugs were non-existent, we sat around our dinner table on the deck and talked until 10:00 PM. Had a great evening with new friends and plan to have more. It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.

The "Supper with the Boss" Story
It was an ordinary day. Finishing cleaning up from our supper last night. Carol invited her boss and his wife for supper to try to make an impression on him and make him like her better than the rest of the people she works with. Nah, not really; I only made up that last part! She did it because she enjoys cooking, we haven't had a chance to use our rear deck this summer because of the heat, and her boss is a nice guy. Scott was named President and CEO of the Parish Resource Center at the beginning of the year. He came to Lancaster from the San Francisco Theological Seminary where he served as interim Vice President of Institutional Advancement. Scott is an ordained Presbyterian minister as was his father. He got his Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary and later returned to his alma mater in 1997 to serve as the program director for the Center of Continuing Education. He and his wife, Judy, have two grown daughters. Getting back to our evening, we had a two pound piece of salmon that Carol made a sauce of butter, garlic and capers to cover.
