It was an ordinary day. My wife sent me an email showing the devastation along the New Jersey coast. Part of it is from Ocean City, NJ where our family vacations every year in late June. We stay on 9th Street in the block right off the boardwalk. One of the images shows the condo unit that we have rented for the past 8 years. The condo looks like it is still intact, but doesn't show if there was any water damage to the inside of the unit. More of the same image shows the boardwalk area and the Castaway Cove pier where we enjoy riding the rides almost every evening we are there. The roads around the pier show a green tint to them which I assume means that it is still water covered, but the rides seems to have weathered the storm and hopefully will be back in business by late June. Then I checked out YouTube and found too videos that were made close to the area where we stay. They are at the south end of the boardwalk and are narrated by a young man who evidently is a resident of Ocean City. It shows the boardwalk and Brown's Restaurant where we have breakfast and donuts our first morning in Ocean City and also shows my favorite restaurant where I buy the hand-made cake donuts, Oves. To me they are the best donuts ever being made with apple cider. Both seem to luckily still remain, though they are still boarded-up. I have included the two still shots, one before and one after the storm as well as the two YouTube videos that you may wish to watch. In the still shots, the condo we rent is in the center on the photos, a third of the way from the top. Large double condo building has a light brown roof with a very dark brown building to the bottom of it and then there is a parking lot next to that. Castaway Cove amusement pier is at the bottom left. you can see what looks like rides in the photo. I know that many of the New Jersey towns were badly damaged, but it seems by looking at the videos and still photos, Ocean City has been spared somewhat. It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
