The "Round and Round We Go: Part II" Story

It was an ordinary day.  Just about ready to post the photos I have showing my friend Jerry and his stock cars. Yesterday I wrote a story about how Jerry got started in the sport of stock car racing.  Jerry, along with friends Tom and Harry Brooks who also own a stock car, raced at many of the local racetracks. Following are photos of the race cars with some narration to help you understand stock cars.

Don Doutrich's #99 stock car.  Jerry's dad was a member of Don's pit crew.  Don raced against racing legends Carl Yarborough and Richard Petty.

Jerry's #75 "dune buggy" turned stock car with Tom and Harry Brooks of Lancaster, PA.  Jerry's car is red and white with hand-painted numbers.

Racing at Williams Grove Speedway.  Jerry's car is second from the right.  Tom Brooks took third in the race with Jerry coming in fourth.

The '41 Plymouth ready for the paint shop.  Jerry took the car to the Brooks  Auto Restoration shop for painting. Jerry decided on dark blue and silver for the colors of his new stock car.   Tom Brooks' stock car is #17, the only two numbers he had stencils for, so Jerry chose #71 for his car.

Jerry's son and pit member, Tim, eventually took over the driving responsibilities from his dad and won the feature event at Hill Valley Speedway, Orbisonia, PA.  Photo shows Tim holding the trophy with his dad.
