The "Scenes I Remember" Story

It was an ordinary day. This past weekend our friends from State College, PA who we travel with one time a year, made a visit to our house and during the weekend we talked over some vacation spots that we would have to consider for this coming fall. We almost always visit a Caribbean island, and that seems to be what we probably will do again. So, I got online to do some research on the islands we listed and came across another pretty neat list that I found interesting. From one of the top travel magazines that is published I found: Top 10 Beaches From the Movies - 10 landmark films, 10 ridiculously beautiful beaches. We found Hollywood's most vaunted locations and are giving you the keys to get there. Only problem for us ..... none of them are on our list. But, that doesn't stop me from checking them out and realizing that I have seen quite a few of the movies associated with the photos. And, I'm sure, so have you. Following are the photos and a brief description of the 10 Top Beaches from the Movies. It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.

Gorgeous! Breathtaking! The Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl was filmed here. View of one of the beaches featured in the movie that was filmed in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. One of the Pirates movies that I did not see.
Lumahai Beach on Kauai, pictured here, stood in for Vanuatu in the film South Pacific. A film that I saw ages ago. Would love to revisit Kauai sometime soon and see it again. Kauai is the only non-Caribbean island on our travel list.
The perfectly white sand and aquamarine water of the One&Only Ocean Club on the Bahamas' paradise Island was the perfect setting for the James Bond flick, Casino Royale. Watched it several times.
Mamma Mia! One of my favorite movies of the past couple of years was filmed on Kastani Beach on the Greek island of Skopelos.
The movie that gave voice to a generation of backpackers, The Beach, centers on the quest for Thailand's last pure beach, one untainted by tourism. The location for the film? Picture-perfect Phi Phi Leh island. Sounds like a movie I just have to rent sometime.

Stephenie Meyer's wildly popular Twilight series is set in cloudy Washington, but some of the best beach scenes were shot 200 miles away on Indian Beach in Oregon. Never saw any of the movies in the series.
15-year-old Brooke Shields filmed The Blue Lagoon at the following beach. Devil's Beach on the island of Nanuya Levu, Fiji was where she filmed the story of cousins falling in love after being shipwrecked. Hey, wouldn't mind if I was shipwrecked on this beach.

28 miles northwest of Santa Monica, this state park may be Hollywood's favorite stretch of sand for shooting minor beach scenes. Movies such as Inception, The Usual Suspects, Point Break, Beach Blanket Bingo and Karate Kid were filmed there. Guess I showing my age by telling you I saw Beach Blanket Bingo, and enjoyed it.
This beach is framed by sycamore trees and steep headlands and is a 1.5-mile-long beach called Leo Carrillo near Malibu. Movies filmed there are Gidget and The Craft. Only one I saw was Gidget.
The Endless Summer traces the worldwide quest of Robert August and Mike Hynson to find the perfect wave. The duo find what they're looking for on Cape St. Francis in South Africa. Here is the beach from the Seal Point Lighthouse. This is also a move that I enjoyed.
