The "Kathy's Corner in Northeast, MD." Story

It was an ordinary day.  Making a visit to Northeast, Maryland to drop off a few photos at Kathy's Corner and eat lunch across the street at Woody's Crab House.  If you haven't been to either place in this neat little town on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake, you ought to head there soon.  Kathy has been in business for 18 years now.  She opened a store in 1995 at a location a block north of her present store.  Seems the owner of the place offered her the corner of the store for her shop and she naturally had to call it Kathy's Corner.  I must admit that I never visited the store, since it wasn't located in the area were all the other shopping and restaurants are located.  Years later her present building became available and being that it is also on a corner lot, there was no need for changing the store's name.  I found out about Kathy's from a few visits to the town to drop off my photography at a photography gallery on the opposite side of the street.  My photos sold well in the gallery, but one day I stopped to make a delivery and found that my photos had been taken off the wall.  After inquiring with the owner, he confessed he sold all of them but never sent me a check.  Luckily I had my paperwork with me and we settled on an amount and I began the search for a new location.  Next door was a gift shop and they were glad to have photography in the shop.  Eventually the store changed owners and the new owner decided not to feature the photos so I began another search.  That's when I discovered that Kathy was taking work from local artists for her store and although I wasn't exactly local, I did have something unique that no one else would have.  Ever since I have been visiting Kathy on a fairly regular schedule. Over the years, Carol and I have gotten to know Kathy.  We found we both shared a interest in the Caribbean Islands, particularly the island of St. Martin.  On one visit to her store, Kathy showed me a post card of the Oyster Bay Beach Resort she had and because of it I posted a story on this blog about the place two years ago.  Has been a little slow for the sale of my photos since the start of the year, but now that the weather is changing and more people are heading to the Chesapeake Bay area for boating, swimming, fishing and eating, the streets in Northeast are beginning to fill with visitors.  Kathy's Corner Shop features custom jewelry, metal sculptures, oil and watercolors, photography, clothing and a variety of other arts and crafts geared to the bay visitor.  I believe I have found my perfect fit for my photographs.  Tough going into the store and not leaving with something new in your hand. It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.  PS - You can see Kathy's website at: http://www.kathyscornershop.com
