The "The Reception" Story

LDub with his brother Steve.
It was an ordinary day.  The wedding of Katie and Matt is complete from the opening music to the walking back the aisle as a married couple.  The only thing left on the agenda is THE RECEPTION and celebrating.  Couple of months ago I made my selection of filet and crab cake and am anxiously awaiting my meal.  We arrived at the reception right on time and found our name cards and searched for our seats.  Time for some appetizers and first round of fuzzy navels.  My brother was a bit more relaxed than he was earlier in the day and we got to talk about the wedding.  Then it was time for the arrival and announcement of the family, wedding party and finally the bride and groom.  To get the event off to a fast start, Katie and Matt danced their first dance as a married couple.
The new bride and groom.
The meal was presented in an unusual fashion.  The tables were round and had seating for eight or more at most tables.  As the guests were served four or more waiters circled the table behind the guests and the head waiter announced the course to be served and all waiters presented the guests with their meal at one time.  Really neat and creative way to serve.  Throughout the meal Katie and Matt circled the room greeting their guests and having photo ops at every table.  Seated with Carol and me at our table was my brother and sister-in-law Steve and Kathy along with Kelly, Matt's sister, and her three children who served as flower girls and ring bearer.  The rest of my family was seated at another table and from time to time they would come over to say Hi! to us and I assigned Camille and Courtney to scour the reception and take some photos with my camera.
The wedding cake.
A few of the photos which are featured after this story are their creations.  Well, time for the ever-popular wedding cake cutting which featured, as usual, the bride and groom feeding a piece of their weeding cake to each other.  Then the noise started!  Loud, loud noise!!  Some call it music, but in this case it was noise.  Luckily it was confined to one end of the room so that you could talk with other guests if you talked loud enough.  As time wore on, so did Carol and I.  So, we eventually excused ourselves and said our good-byes to the bride and groom as well as other family and headed home.  It was a fun day shared with family and friends.  The kind of day that deserves a few stories to be told about it.  It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.  PS - photos of the reception follow.
