The "Gary's Coming!!" Story

Arnold
It was an ordinary day.  The mailman just put a bone in the mail slot for Arnold.  He does that almost every day when he opens the mail slot to give us our mail.  Gary, our mailman, is a great guy; personable, warm and loves animals.  And, most love him ….. eventually.  That is, after he gets on their good side with a couple of days of bones.  Arnold was a rescue when our youngest began kindergarten.  He was part Beagle and part Dachshund.  He loved to grab the mail from the mail slot which was at the bottom of our solid wood door.  Actually, that's the only way he could grab it, since he wasn't more than a foot off the ground himself.  For months he shred the bills, cards and whatever Gary would put in the door.

Then, Gary began with the bone idea and instantly Arnold wasn't enamored with the mail, but with the bone.  Wise man, that Gary!  And, as for Arnold, when we would yell, "Gary's coming!!" he would hustle for his daily bone.
Eventually we moved to our "Beach House" and no longer have mail delivered to the door.  Arnold lived for about half a dozen years after we moved and I'm sure he missed those daily bones in the mail slot.  Well, the rest of my story deals with my daughter and her cat, Ruby.  Ruby was also a rescue.  She was found searching for food in a dumpster behind a McDonald's in Maryland.  You may remember a few stories that I have posted about Ruby and her disposition.
After a battle with Ruby. Teeth marks in my palm
and scratches on my arm.  Still can see them!
She is a beautiful cat, but she tends to hate everyone except my daughter, Brynn.  One time Carol and I went to visit and somehow she got out.  I located her under the rear deck and tried to pick her up.  I still carry the scars from that experience.  Brynn tells me that Ruby is also much the same with their mailman except a treat will not help one bit.  Then she told me she showed a video to the mailman which was much the same as her mailman and Ruby.  I have included it for your amusement.  And, for those that have pets that dislike the mailman ………. well, good luck with that!  It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy. zdghuo0p

PS - The end of the last sentence was written by Creamsicle who wasn't happy I wasn't paying attention to him and walked across my keyboard.  The video follows:
