The "Sweet Crepe's with a View" Story

It was an ordinary day.  Sitting at our table trying to figure out why we had never eaten breakfast at this place before.  Sitting in front of us are butter and sugar crepes with a mixture of fresh fruits on them.  Within minutes we had both consumed our breakfast crepe without taking a photo of them.  Hey, we were hungry!

I said to Carol, "Why have we never been to this place before?  It's five minutes from our rental and the view is specta- cular."  Well, we corrected our mistake a few days later by making a return visit to Paradise View Creperie Restaurant which sits high on a hill overlooking Orient Bay on the island of St. Martin.

The sweet crepes are fabulous and extremely large.  You order the butter and sugar crepe for $3.50 and add ingredients of your choice if you wish.  Ingredients such as home made caramel, strawberry jam, rasberry jam, caramelized apples, a scoop of ice cream, whipped cream or a mix of fresh fruits as we did on our first visit.

The extra ingredients cost a dollar more for one ingredient, three dollars more for two ingredients, five dollars more for three ingredients plus two dollars more for every one after three.  Now, I missed the scoop of ice cream on the menu the first visit, but not on my second visit.

The second time I had the butter and sugar crepe, which is the star of the breakfast, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and strawberry jam filling the inside of the crepe.  Carol opted for the strawberry jam, as I did, but she wanted the three big dollops of whipped cream instead of the ice cream.  This time we remembered to snap a photo before we devoured our meal.  And, to top it off, we each had a glass of fresh mango juice.  The owners of Paradise View Creperie are Lucy and Johan who have run the restaurant for five years now.  We have visited the island for many more years before that, but never stopped at the restaurant that used to operate at the same place.

We have no excuse for not visiting since it was opened as the Creperie and I'm sure we will make it one of our favorite breakfast stops in years to come.  The view of Orient Bay with a view of St. Barths in the distance is unbelievable.  Directly next door to the restaurant is a small rum shack run by Bernadine.  She sells the island favorite Ma Doudou flavored rum as well as runs an animal shelter.  If you are in the area for breakfast at the Creperie, stop and buy a few bottles of rum from Bernadine or do as we do every year and drop off a big bag of dog or cat food so she can continue to run her island rescue.  It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
