The "Eating Breakfast The French Way" Story

It was an ordinary day.  Sitting in the Paradise View Creperie enjoying breakfast.  And, I'm not quite sure why I hadn't thought of having ice cream for breakfast years ago.  Carol and I discovered this little restaurant, that sits high above world famous Orient Beach on the island of St. Martin, a few years ago and breakfast, while on vacation, hasn't been the same ever since.

I'm not sure why it took us almost fifteen years to discover this great little gem that is about five minutes from our villa, but we seem to have made up for it the last two years.  It was last year that we stopped for breakfast one morning and after finishing our meal decided we needed to stop a few more times.  Well, this year we made it a top priority for breakfast and managed to stop half a dozen times during our stay.  The restaurant has the usual American Breakfast as well as the European Continental Breakfast, but we're on vacation so we turn the menu over and head right to the Crepes.

Paradise View features breakfast Salty Crepes such as: Ham, cheese and egg crepe; Mushroom cream crepe; Chicken, veges, cream and cajun spices crepe; and the Bacon, ham and chicken crepe.  But, we continue on the menu to the Sweet Crepe section where they have: Banana crepe; Caramelised (French spelling) apple crepe; Coconut crepe; Honey crepe; Jam (Strawberry, Orange, Blueberry) crepe; and the list goes on and on.  You can also make your own Crepe by adding as many ingredients as you wish.  A crepe with one ingredient costs 4,5 Euros, two ingredients costs 6,5 Euros, and continues to add two Euros for each additional ingredient.

So, for breakfast I had the Sweet Crepe with Cara- melised apple stuffed inside of it with a big scoop of ..... vanilla ice cream on it.  Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that you can have ice cream (vanilla, chocolate or coconut) or whipped cream added to your Sweet breakfast crepe if you wish.  And, who wouldn't wish to add ice cream ..... and maybe whipped cream also to their Sweet breakfast crepe.  Now, the ice cream does add an additional 2 Euros to the cost while whipped cream adds an additional 1 Euro.  Every morning breakfast stop this year saw a Sweet crepe sitting in front of me with one of their ingredients inside of it with a scoop of ice cream on top of it.  As I type this story I have made a mental note to put a sticky note in my file folder for next year's trip to St. Martin reminding me to add two scoops of ice cream to my Sweet breakfast crepe.  Why not?  I'm on vacation!!  It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
