The "Starting A Conversation About Growing Old" Story

It was an ordinary day. Sitting in my leather lounge chair reading two very interesting stories written by Robert M. Olson in what will perhaps be the new SENIOR LIFE section of the Lancaster Newspaper. One story he published is his life story titled: "Adrift after sailing, I found a new purpose for my life." Story tells the life of a retired pastor, hospital chaplain, university teacher, family therapist, storyteller and sailor who sold everything after retirement and bought a boat to do some exploring with his wife. He told of a life rich in experiences, but poor of wealth. He eventually moved back to solid ground and
the day came to try something different.  Lancaster Newspapers has given him that chance by working with seniors to tell their stories. He tells: I would like to teach you how to tell your story so that your children and grandchildren have your life's legacy to pass on to their children." Well, I have just sent an email to Bob telling him of my experiences after retirement and how this blog has given me the chance to share my life's experiences, both past and present with anyone who may happen upon my stories. It's been almost eight years since I began this adventure and at times I thought I would put a stop to it, but it has become addictive and I'm having some of the best times of my life. I anxious to see what Bob has in store for the readers of the Lancaster Newspaper. I'm sure a few more seniors will find the enjoyment and excitement that I found eight years ago. Once I see some results, I'll pass a link along so you too may see the stories that other seniors find important and inspiring in their lives.  It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
