The "Antigua 2019: The Flag Debacle" Story

It was an ordinary day.  Looking at the four new flags that graced the flag poles in front of the Halcyon Cove Resort on the island of Antigua in the Caribbean Sea.  It was just yesterday I mentioned to the desk clerk that the flags that were on the poles looked very tattered.  Evidently she agreed with me, thus the new group of flags.  But, as I looked a second time at the flags I realized that the flag of the United States was upside down.
The flag of the United States can be seen upside down, second
from the left, as we had breakfast across from the flagpoles.
Did the resort know something I didn't about my country or did they happen to place it upside down by mistake?  I pointed it out to my wife as we headed to breakfast in a nearby building.  After breakfast I thought I would stop at the desk and tell them, but it seems they already knew.  A group of four women from Scotland, whom we had met on the beach the the previous day, had told them about the flag just before we stopped to tell them.  They thought we would be highly insulted being the flag was upside down, so they told the desk clerk.
Another photo from the front of the resort. This
was taken the next day with the field of blue and
white stars on the top of the flag.  Flags were,
from left: Antigua, British, USA and Canada.
Wasn't long before "Old Glory" was flying high in the sky with the stars to the top as they were meant to be.  Other flags that flew next to it were the flag of England, being that Antigua is a British island, the flag of Canada, since many tourists to the island are Canadian, and the flag of Antigua.  When we visited the island ten years ago there was a fifth flag on the final pole, but the resort as well as myself couldn't remember what flag it would have been.  Carol and I thanked our new friends from Scotland and we all now have a chance to view the new flags when arriving at the resort on the north-west shore of Antigua on Dickenson Bay.  It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
