The "Favorite Foods In America" Story

It was an ordinary day.  Reading an article in Reader's Digest that listed America's 50 favorite foods.  Started from the back with the 50th most popular food being Sesame Chicken and ended with the number one favorite food being...WAIT A MINUTE!!  No way!  Can you believe that America's #1 favorite food is the Burrito Bowl.  The description of the #1 food read: Chipotle lovers have often debated whether the burrito or burrito bowl is better, with some fans claiming burrito bowls offer more food.  The dish ranked second in Grubhub's 2020 survey, only to rise in ranks this year.  The upward trajectory is pretty impressive, considering the dish only became popular in the 2000s.  So there you have it...a description of the #1 favorite food in the United States!  And, there is no way I believe it!!  My guess is that someone who runs or works at Grubhub's devised the survey and made sure that their food product made it to #1.  I'd have a hard time ranking it #50.  You mean to tell me that the burrito bowl beat out the cheeseburger, cheese pizza, French fries, chicken nuggets, Mac and cheese and apple pie?  So...I went through the rest of the 50 selections that were on the list and found foods such as:  seaweed salad, hummus, wonton soup, salmon avocado roll, garlic knots,  bean burrito, Thai iced tea, white rice, guacamole, crab rangoon, shrimp tempura, Gyoza, chicken tikka masala, miso soup and  Pad thai.  Give me a break!!  No way do normal people eat all of those things.  Rangoon!  Tikka masala!  Gyoza!  I've never heard of some of these dishes and they were on the "America's Favorite Food" list!  What ever happened to creamed peas and eggs on toast?  I just can't believe some of the food that was picked on the top 50 list of food people enjoy in the United States of America.  Yeah...there was apple pie and a hamburger, but many of the foods listed I had never heard of in my life...and that a long, long time.  It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
