This is Larry's wife, Carol, writing his last blog story. Larry passed away early Friday morning, March 28th. He lost a short battle with lung cancer, being diagnosed in late February. Larry wasn't a smoker because 57 years ago when we started dating, I told him I wouldn't go out with him if he didn't stop smoking! HE DID! We had many happy years together and he celebrated his 80 birthday in September. We had three wonderful children, and three super-wonderful grandchildren. Our two granddaughters, one an RN and the other in RN classes, helped with his care near the end. And I am so grateful for them. Larry will be greatly missed by family and friends. He took great pride in writing this blog and delighted in reading your comments.

He wrote his own obituary in this blog a few years ago with his great sense of humor. Type "obit" in the search engine to read it. Keep in mind it was all in jest with a good amount of truth included.

Rest in Peace Dear Larry,

Friend, husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, teacher, woodworker, photographer, stained glass designer, writer of blogs

  1. I'm so sorry to hear of this, although I suspected. I became acquainted with Larry's blog only maybe three years ago when searching for information about the historic Daniel Wolf house in East Pete. Even though I’ve lived in Illinois for almost four decades now, I grew up in Lancaster County so I took an interest in many of the extraordinary days in the life of the ordinary guy, Larry. The blog is a treasure. My sincere condolences to you and your family. -Bruce

  2. Thank you for writing, Carol. Please accept my deepest condolences and prayers for you and your wonderful family. I was worried a few weeks ago when I checked for a recent post and did not see any new posts.
Count me among one of the lucky MTHS students who benefited from having Mr. Woods as our Neff-Vue advisor. Thanks for sharing him.
Also enjoyed running into him at athletic events when my children played and beyond.
