The "Green Bowl" Story
It was an ordinary day. Carol was busy making Christmas cookies. She’s using THE BOWL. The GREEN BOWL. The BIG GREEN PLASTIC BOWL. This is a bowl that is used for many purposes in our house. I use it when I cut corn off the cob. We use it to hold potatoes after they have be boiled, ready for peeling. We use it for mixing punch and mixed drinks. We use it to hold ice when we need to chill something. We use it to hold soapy water when we wash silverware after big family dinners. We use it to hold candy at Halloween. We use it to hold smaller bowls in the cabinet. But, Carol uses it mostly to mix up some of the best cookies on EARTH!! And.......... we use it for throw-up! Yep, you heard right! When our kids were home from school with a fever and upset stomach, we would put it next to their bed since it was so large and hard to miss. We put it next to our “Sick Chair” in the living room. Everybody must have a “Sick Chair” in their family. Don’t you? Ours was my favorite recliner that you sat in if you were sick and got tired of laying in bed. The recliner that our cat peed on when he was mad at us for leaving him at home when we went on vacation. Well, the chair matched the GREEN THROW-UP BOWL perfect. Either on the floor next to the chair or on a TV table next to the chair. I’m sure everyone had a bowl like this in their family. Don’t you? Carol is now looking over my shoulder as I type this and is saying, “You can’t publish that story! No one will want to eat my cookies again.” That’s the idea!!! It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
