The "Shopping For Knowledge And Enjoyment" Story

It was an ordinary day.  Sitting in my lounge chair with my MacBook Air in my lap writing another story for my blog.  My wife, Carol, sits close by in her lounger reading one of her new acquisitions, "The Hypnotist's Love Story" written by Liane Moriarty.  

A few days ago we made a visit to nearby Franklin & Marshall College's Alumni Sports & Fitness Center for the 2018 Lancaster Library Annual Book Sale.  Every year we try and visit the large gymnasium to browse the quarter million used books and periodicals that are for sale during the three-day sale.  This year over $100,000.00 was raised for the Lancaster County Library system in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  Monday, May 21 was the first day of the sale.  I had a Nuclear Medicine Bone Spect CT injection scheduled at 7:15 a.m. at the Lancaster Suburban Pavilion so after the injection I returned home and picked up Carol and we headed to F&M to the book sale.

The parking lot was overflowing and the gymnasium was packed.  We agreed to meet in 30 minutes and each went different directions.  I searched the rows and rows of books and pamphlets in the historical sections while Carol headed to the novel sections.  Thirty minutes later she was standing by my side as I made my selections and we headed to the check-out.  She had chosen half a dozen hard-bound books which were $3.00 each while I had selected a dozen or more pamphlets priced at $1.00 each.  After close to an hour we were back in the car headed home so I could drop her off and head back to the health campus so they could do the actual bone scan.

By 11:00 am I was sitting in my lounge chair watching "The Price Is Right" and leafing through my new acquisi- tions.  We have made visits to the annual sale for a few years now and find the selection to be outstanding as well as inexpensive.  The public library benefits from the sale which is run by plenty of volunteers.  In the near future you will probably read a few stories obtained from adventures I will take based on the pamphlets I just purchased.  So, you will be part of my donation I made to the annual Book Sale in Lancaster.  It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
