It was an ordinary day. Reading online about a St. Maarten/St. Martin island street-art tour. The information says that the island is famous and loved for its beaches and culinary delights, but it also offers amazing art around every corner. You can get to know the island's stunning mural collection on a guided tour and the island-wide tour showcases the world-class art that exists across the island. Carol and I have been visitors to the dual/nation island of St. Martin/Sint Maarten for close to 20 years now having made yearly, and sometimes by-yearly visits to the island that we find so welcoming. Our last visit to the island was three years ago due to COVID problems and during that time I have seen many new pieces of artwork displayed online which shows the talent of the island artists. The island is famous and loved for its beaches and culinary delights, but the island also offers amazing art. They now offer a guided art tour for visitors to the island either by plane or boat. During our last trip in 2019, local artists were beginning to fill the empty walls of restaurants, businesses, hotels and other lodging as just about any empty wall along the roads of the island are filled with beautiful artwork. We were so anxious to visit the following year and see how many more pieces of artwork graced the walls along the island's streets. Then COVID arrived and canceled our trips. We are so upset that we can't visit to see all the new pieces of artwork that fill the walls along the streets. I have viewed much of the artwork online, but that's just not the same as driving around the multi-nation island's roads looking at them in person. Perhaps this coming spring, summer or fall will give us the chance to visit once again. I have posted many samples for you to view so you too can see the artistic talent that can be found on St. Martin/Sint Maarten. As of now there are over 90 pieces of artwork that fill most of the empty places along the roads and towns of the island. Enjoy! It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
