The "Revisiting A Few Stories From The Past" Story
It was an ordinary day. Reading two stories that have appeared in my local newspaper the past couple of days. One story talked about my favorite rollercoaster at nearby Hershey Park while the other story featured The Haines Shoe House that is just across the Susquehanna River in York County. The Haines Shoe House was a York County attraction that sat along the Rt. 30 Bypass since the 1940s. The LNP recently published that it is now available to rent via Vrbo, a vacation rental service similar to Airbnb. The attraction was sold this past July and is now available to rent. The shoe house sleeps 6 people, with three bedrooms and two and a half baths. The house also features a hot tub, fire ring and mini bar.

Rental costs for the shoe house run from $215 to $323 per night depending upon the day of the week and if it may be a holiday or not. The Haines Shoe house was built in 1948 and served as both an advertisement and roadside attraction for the Haines Shoe Company. I can remember visiting the shoe house and asking permission to take a walk through it and take a few photos. The second part of my story today deals with the Wildcat Rollercoaster at Hershey Park in nearby Hershey, Pennsylvania. The Wildcat was my favorite ride at Hershey Park. I can remember riding it and as soon as I got off, ran around to the entrance to get in line once again. Did that maybe a half dozen times before I had had my fill of the coaster. Just loved the first hill that seemed like it went straight down. Hersheypark began selling pieces of that iconic roller-coaster this past week. They only will have 160 small pieces of the coaster for sale at $300 each. By the time I inquired about the pieces, they were already gone! Hershey Park announced that they will build a new hybrid roller-coaster and call it Wildcat's Revenge. The new coaster will be built upon the existing wooden framework of the original Wildcat. The new coaster will not be finished until the summer of 2023. I'm anxious already to get a chance to ride on the new coaster.

My only problem will be if my doctor will want me to ride it or not. Well, after reading both articles in my morning newspaper a few days ago, I knew I would have no problem finding something to write about today. It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
