It was a ordinary day. At least for a little while until a guy by the name of Steven Tyler walked into the store. It happened a few weeks ago in nearby Lititz, Pennsylvania. Tyler was visiting Lititz Music Co. at 47 S. Broad St. It was the first time the story owner had a famous musician visit the shop. Tyler had been in Lititz for at least a week when he was spotted at Lititz hardware store Bomberger's on August 15. Aerosmith's tour kicked off at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on September 2. " A couple of guys from Tyler's security team came through and the store closed down early to accommodate him and his team. Tyler spent more than two hours playing various instruments in the shop while digging through records and LP's. The co-owner of the store, Ben Hartranft said "You could tell he was in his element. He was playing guitars, recorders, Melodions as well as a ukulele. He made up a song about how much he loves Hawaii...just off he top his head. Then Tyler picked up the melodica and started to perform the beginning notes of his 1973 hit single "Dream On." A melodica is a keyboard with a reed that uses a player's breath to make sounds. It's similar to a harmonica, but larger and includes a full, piano-style keyboard. A Melodion is a brand of melodica which in turn is a keyboard with a reed that uses a player's breath to make sounds. Hartranft said it was one of those surreal moments when a big rock star plays one of his hugh songs on this little instrument. Just had to laugh at it! Tyler ended up buying several items as well as a few guitar accessories and an old amp. He also bought several Elvis records as well as a few records from the Beatles and of all things, a Muppets LP. Wasn't long before a large group formed outside Lititz Music Co. But, Tyler didn't mind having his photo taken with the crowd. You could tell he was a people person, Hartranft said. Tyler posed for pictures with fans when he was spotted at Bombergers Hardware Store in Lititz earlier in the month. Aerosmith began its "Peace Out: The Farewell Tour" on September 2 and will visit several well-known venues, like Madison Square Garden and Los Angeles' Kia Forum. The tour will end late January with a final stop in Quebec, Canada. A recent photo of the co-owners of the Lititz Music Co. was taken with Tyler and posted in the Lancaster newspaper. Pretty neat to have your photograph taken with a rock star as well known as Steven Tyler. It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
