The "A Train Yard You Can't Believe Until You See It! Story

It was an ordinary day.  Just stepped inside the Masonic Village & Elizabethtown Model Train Railroad Club that is located on Freemason Drive, on the grounds of Masonic Village in Elizabethtown.  The Club had opened the train display to the pubic in early March for all to see.  The club's collection includes trains in seven gauge sizes, from G scale to the tiny Z scale.  The club has operated on the Masonic Village campus since 1997.  

The club has more than 1,600 feet of track in its "train station" inside its club building on Freemason Drive in Elizabethtown, PA.  My wife, Carol, and I made a trip to the train site with friends Pat and Dale to see their immense display.  There are a few other model train sites in Lancaster County, but I don't believe any of the others come anywhere close to the display that is on the Masonic Village site.  Admission is free, but donations are accepted.  The Model Railroad Club has been entertaining children and the children at heart for over 25 years.  A recent open house featured model trains in nearly every available scale run on over 1,000 feet of track on seven detailed layouts.  Types of model gauges include the large "G" scale, also known as garden scale, "O" (Lionel), "S" (Standard), "HO", "N" and the extremely small "Z" scale (train cars which are an inch long).  The model train building looks just like a train station!  

Admission into the fantastic model train layout is free, but donations are accepted.  I have worked on train yards for years, since I had three children, but I have never viewed a layout such as the one on the Masonic Village campus.  Luckily, I had my camera with me and took the time to take a few photos for you to view.  If you ever have a chance to visit the display, don't miss it.  You can check the hours they are open by contacting Masonic Village in Elizabethtown, PA.  A few of the following photos I took when I toured the display.  It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.  PS - The following are just a few of the approximately 100 photos I took at the train display.  If you have a chance....go and see the display.  You will be AMAZED!!
