It was an ordinary day. Just Sue, Jerry and I are getting ready to celebrate Carol's birthday with a party at Chenay Bay Beach Resort's restaurant. Restaurant sits right on the beach at Chenay Bay. We're on the island of St. Croix in the Caribbean. This is one of the US Virgin Islands. We are leaving tomorrow for Tortola which is a British Virgin Island. Our stay in St. Croix took us to The Divi on the south-east end of the island. Had fun snorkeling at Buck Island, shopping in the capital of Christensted, visiting the Fredericksted which is the the boat harbor, visiting the St. George Botanical Gardens, riding at Paul and Jill's stable, eating at Cheeseburgers in Paradise (needed to put the "s" on the burger or would be illegally titled), watching the sunrise at the easternmost point in the USA at Point Udall and relaxing on the many beaches we visited. But, we can't miss Carol's Birthday. Seems we are always on vacation when the event occurs. We made reservations for tonight because they told us at the resort that the restaurant is always crowded. Yea, right! Even got there early! Maybe there was 20 people in the restaurant. Neatest thing was that another person was also celebrating a birthday so we all got together and celebrated abigger party. After supper the entertainment started. First the Mocko Jumbi dancers entertained. They had to be on the beach since this is dancing on stilts. Colorful dress and music complete the dance routine. This is a dance tradition on the island that originated in West Africa. Next entertainer was an islander who broke several bottles, scattered them on the floor and danced on them. Only after a few drinks is this exciting!! Then the dancing started. The other girl who was celebrating was an officer in the US Army so Carol and her shared the first dance of the evening.....together. 3 piece band really could entertain. Fun evening a a great way to end our stay on St. Croix. It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
