It was an ordinary day. Sunday, March 12 and today's LNP (Lancaster News Paper) Sunday Newspaper was huge as usual. Section after section of news, stories, important information, advertisements, etc. filled the pages of the paper. There are 11 sections to the Sunday LNP (Sunday Lancaster News Paper). Sections such as the Nation and World, Living, Money, Lottery, Sports, Perspective, Living, Obituaries, etc. fill the pages of the newspaper. I can't imagine how many trees had to be cut down to print the Sunday edition of LNP for the city of Lancaster and surrounding communities. Most of the pages carry something in color as well as black and white printing. The majority of the times their registration (lining up all the colors) is right on. And, I just don't know what I would do without my daily newspaper. Where else can you find something packed full of information in black and white as well as color ink that offers all the current news, magazine section, advertisements, today's weather forecast, TV journal, sports, real estate, lottery numbers, obituaries, advertisements, etc., etc. And...they have been doing this in Lancaster county for 228 years!!! Lancaster Newspapers has been locally owned and operated (printed) since 1794. How many of you reading this can lay claim to those facts? At times they may make a mistake or two. How could you not make a few mistakes with all the reporters, writers, and typists working on a huge printed newspaper? Well, they do have a column every issue for what few mistakes they may make from time to time. For instance, yesterdays Sunday News had three corrections that they made from previous issues from the past week. One mistake was from page A1 of the March 5 newspaper when they partially misidentified the result of the District Three Class 3A swimming championships on March 4. They forgot to tell everyone that Lebanon's Will Parker had won the silver in the 100-yard breaststroke. I guess if I was Will's parents I might have been upset, so they made the correction. Another mistake was from a story under the headline "Unicycle Rider survives collision with truck." The paper incorrectly stated the direction Jonathan Pena was traveling on his electric unicycle was southwest. The final mistake was a caption on a photo that ran with the "I Know a Story" column. The supermarket that the author wrote about was located in the city of Reading. The newspaper gives you the telephone number that you can call if you want to make a "correction" that you might have found in the newspaper. Can you imagine printing a newspaper with section after section and only make 3 mistakes. I usually make that many mistakes when I type my daily story for this blog! Perhaps you have found a few if you read it often enough! At least with the local newspaper...if you notify them, they will tell you of the mistake they made. And...when you buy the Sunday newspaper, you get all of this for $3.00. I just can't imagine how they can manage to get a newspaper printed every day with page after page of color and black and white pages and only make 3 mistakes on a Sunday issue of the newspaper with a paper that has thousands of printed words in its. Great job newspaper! Keep up the good work. If only I could do such a good job! It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary gug.
