It was an ordinary day. Carol and I were sitting on the beach in front of Il Nettuno which was one of our favorite restaurants on the island of St Martin/Sint Maarten. Il Nettuno translates to "The Neptune, Roman God of the Sea." We first began to travel to the island known as St. Martin/Sint Maarten in the early 2000s. During our first trip to the island we traveled to both the French side and the Dutch side of the island to try out their beaches as well as their cuisine. Wasn't long before we found our favorite restaurant. Il Nettuno was an Italian restaurant serving all classic pasta dishes and is located at 70 Grand Case Boulevard.

Il Nettuno in Grand Case |
The restaurant is one of the larger ones in Grand Case so we had no trouble walking up and getting an immediate table. The rear of the restaurant is along Grand Case Beach and an entire row of tables sits directly above the water. The food at this restaurant was probably the best of any island restaurant we visited during our many visits to the Caribbean. The more I read about the restaurant, the more I realized Carol and I weren't the only couple who thought the restaurant to be the best in the Caribbean. The menu boasted a variety of Italian classics, with an emphasis on seafood dishes. The meals ranged from 15-25 euros for most of the main dishes, but they certainly were worth the price. Everyone has a reason for eating at a specific restaurant while on vacation, and the more you get to travel, the more restaurants you will find that suit your taste buds. Well, after over 20 years or more of traveling to the Caribbean, we never found a restaurant that we enjoyed more than Il Nettuno. If you ever get a chance to travel to the dual island known as St. Martin/Sint Maarten, don't miss eating at Il Nettuno which is located on the French side of the island. It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
