It was an ordinary day. Reading about Lancaster's Channel 8 Television new news room in their complex off of Columbia Ave. to the West of the city of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. When Lancaster's Television station first began on the air on March 18, 1949, they were WGAL-TV Channel 4 and were owned by Hearst Properties Inc. Not quite sure what year they changed channels, but they are now, and have been for as long as I can remember, Channel 8. When I turned on Channel 8 last evening to watch the evening news, they were in an entirely new state-of-the-art newsroom from which to broadcast their news shows. The newly designed newsroom is beautiful! Where they found the room to rebuild their new newsroom, in the location where they have been for years, is a wonder. The new newsroom seems to be twice the size as the old newsroom. It was fun to watch the news broadcasters give us the news last evening. I did notice they had some problems with sound and I'm not sure if I like them standing instead of being seated, but I will get used to it before long. At times they seemed to be lost in the hugh new newsroom. Check out the following photograph and you can see what they have created in their location on Columbia Pike in Lancaster, PA. Thanks Channel 8, WGAL TV, for all the many years I have been watching you. I was a very young boy when you first came on the air, and I have been a loyal fan of your TV news broadcasts for as long as you have been on the air. I now will have the chance to view the news shows in a new atmosphere. Only wish all the old broadcasters would have had a chance to work in your new newsroom. Keep up the great work that you have done in the past. My wife and I really appreciate it knowing we are receiving the lastest news that can be reported. It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
