The "Take A Trip Back In Time With Me" Story

It was an ordinary day.  Looking at a Facebook page known as "Remember when....in Lancaster".  One of my favorite visits every day along with the page "The Lancastrian".  When you have reached the mid-point of your 7th decade of life such as I, you find looking at photographs from times past to be interesting as well as bringing back a bit of melancholy from the "good 'ole times".  Happened as I watched a video which featured photographs from Kieron Ramos as Bobbi Carmitchell sang one of her songs from her album, "County Wide: Song Stories From Lancaster County" titled "Rocky Springs Saturday Night".  The video and song brought back so many memories of visiting Rocky Springs Park as a child as well as a young adult.  Used to work at the Acme Supermarket while in high school and college and would finish work at 10:00 pm on a Saturday evening and drive to Rocky Spring's Park with my friend and employee Jerry to ride the "Wildcat" rollercoaster.  

Just One More Time!!

Jerry's granddad ran the ride and as long as they weren't busy, he would let us ride the coaster as long as we wanted if there were no others in line to ride it. Hop in a car, hook the belt buckle around your waist by yourself and get ready to scream.  After about a dozen times we would have to signal him that we couldn't take it anymore and he would stop the ride.  Tonight after watching the YouTube video the memories of Rocky Springs Park came flooding back.  As I watched the video and listened to the song I could feel the tears rolling down my cheeks, wishing I could spend just one more night riding that wonderful old rickety roller coaster with my friend.  Everyone has a few memories that make them wish they could relive an experience just one more time, and this song and video brought back those good 'ole times for me.  It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
