The "A Book They Will Never Forget!" Story

It was an ordinary day.  Checking out the mistakes that the secretaries in the Landis Run Inter- mediate School found in my first printing of this year's Landis Run Yearbook.  In an attempt to have my first ever perfect yearbook in 52 years, the secretaries agreed to take a look at this years' book to see if they could find any mistakes before I submitted it to the yearbook company for printing.

This year's book is Volume #8, since the school opened in 2012.  Proofing 64 pages of photos with copy is a daunting task, but I'm convinced they can find any flagrant mistakes I may have made.  One feature of this year's book is quotes about friends and friendship.  I think the students will enjoy reading the quotes which were picked by one of the English teachers in the school.  They reported only one minor mistake which I corrected and submitted to Josten's Yearbook Company for printing.  The final two pages that I completed this year were two pages I had dedicated to the school's Musical.  One week after I had made the one minor correction and submitted the book, the school district shut down due to the Governor of Pennsylvania's mandate that all  schools should close due to the COVID-19 virus.

My timing had been almost perfect!  The school was still closed in the second week of June when I had planned to hand out the books as I do each year.  I usually count out books for each homeroom teacher and place a sheet of paper on each pile telling the teacher whom should have a book.  Didn't happen this year.  Books were handed out by the office on the few days that children were told to return, at different time intervals, to clean out their lockers.

I stopped to pick up a copy to use for next year's book and was told everything went fine and no one reported any errors... yet!  I never get my hopes up, since the yearbook company always tells me there has never been a perfect yearbook produced.  Could I have changed their thinking after 52 years of trying?  Maybe, but we will have to wait to see if anyone calls the office with a complaint.  I hope not, but even if there is a mistake, I will still return next year to give it a try once again.  It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
