It was an ordinary day. Packing a few more large boxes of items to take to my brother to try and sell online. Worked out a deal with my brother that I would bring him all the items my wife and I no longer wanted and he would take care of listing them online and packing and shipping them after they were sold. In return, we would split the money. Great deal for both of us and I don't have to worry about the stuff once I have unloaded it at his house in nearby Ephrata, PA. Today's haul may bring some extra money since what I packed isn't really junk, but treasures from the past; the distant past. I have packed a few letters that were typed or written by Mr. Jimmy Durante and sent to my wife's grandmother, Fannie. Also found a letter from entertainer Eddie Cantor that had written to Fannie on February 13, 1954. Both entertainers got to know my wife's grandmother since they both performed live at Lancaster's theaters and got to know Fannie's husband during their trips to Lancaster. I also packed several old "Life", "Look," and "Post" magazines which are in fair condition and were from the 1960s. I acquired these magazines from a neighbor whom Carol and I helped when she lived next to us in the Grandview Heights section of Manheim Township. Her husband had died and I helped her with house repairs and we invited her on a regular basis to holiday meals with our family. In return she gave us a few boxes of old magazines and local newspapers. Finally thought it was time to sell them and see if they may be worth anything to a collector. I have included most of what I will take to my brother after I finish my story today. I'm sure he will be excited, as he always seems to be, when I arrive with my old treasures that may have found their way into the trash had it not been for him telling me I could possibly get rich off of my junk. Time will tell! It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
