The "Losing A Good Customer" Story
It was an ordinary day. One of my printing customers, Twila R., who owns Garden Spot Promotions in Lancaster, just stopped for her 10,000 flyers I had printed. Twila promotes gospel music in South-eastern Pennsylvania. Her Blue Mountain Gospel Music Festival, held in Lebanon, PA, always takes place over the Labor Day weekend. She arranges and promotes a dozen or more concerts each year which are almost always sold out. Names such as Legacy Five, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, Greater Vision, Talley Trio, and The Hoppers make a journey every year to play in front of sold out crowds at either Calvary Independent Church or Lancaster Mennonnite High School. I have printed flyers for her and Garden Promotions for the last eight years, or since she has owned it. She purchased it from Mary C. in 2003. I printed flyers for Mary for a few years before she sold it to Twila. I found out about Mary through a former high school classmate, Dotty L., who ran a printing business with her husband and were closing their shop. She suggested to Mary that she call me to help her with the printing of the flyers. And now, this is all coming to an end! Twila told me today that she has sold the company to a fellow in Tennessee and he will take control at the end of the year. Chances are he is not going to need my services. She felt bad sharing the information with me, but I can understand. The chore of running a business such as Garden Spot Promotions, raising a family, and helping with the care of her parents has taken a toll. She told me she will give the new owner my phone number, but I'm not sitting by the phone, waiting. I'll miss the extra money which was used for our vacation fund, but will find something to take it's place. Always do. You know .... even-steven. It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy.
