The "I'm Always up for a 'Freebie'" Story
It was an ordinary day. We were going gambling! I don't think I ever did that in my life. At least not with money. After a full day at the beach and a great meal with Carol, Just Sue and Jerry, we're headed across the street from the Divi Resort on St. Croix to the casino. It is the only casino on the island and most of the time there aren't that many cars in the parking lot. When we checked into the resort, we were given a packet of "freebies" that came with our room. One of these was a free shirt from the casino and we're going to collect that shirttonight. As we walk in we notice that it is mostly empty and not much noise or action taking place. May be because it is only 7:30 PM, but we aren't late night people and our bedtime is fast approaching. We walked to the cashier and each asked for $1 worth of quarters. BIG SPENDERS! Didn't take long to lose that! Time to see what these shirts looked like. We asked someone walking around the casino that looked "official" and they took us to the office. After examining the coupon they wondered where we got the coupon. Seems that very few people ever ask for the free shirt. They had to look in quite a few cabinets until they came up with the shirts. Shirts were a short sleeve blue and yellow color with a collar. I took a large and Jerry took a medium. And ..... out the door we went. We were on a mission, and we had completed the mission. And, I believe that may have been the only $1 I ever spent in a casino. Pretty boring, huh? Time for bed! It was another extraordinary day in the life of an ordinary guy. PS - pix shows Jerry wearing his free shirt. He wore it often, but I donated my to Goodwill after I washed it and put it in the dryer by mistake.
